π Herd Mentality vs π Disciplined Financial Planning
Which side are you on?
We’ve all done it—or at least thought about it. Heard a “hot tip” from a colleague, watched a confident YouTuber, or forwarded a message that claimed to double your money in no time.
Be honest—has this ever happened to you? π
As a Certified Financial Planner, I’ve seen how easy it is to fall into the trap of herd mentality and confirmation bias. But I’ve also seen the other side—where people build wealth, achieve their life goals, and enjoy financial freedom.
Let me share two real stories and one silent hero from my journey. See which one feels most familiar to you.
π Story 1: The Market-Chaser Who Knew It All
A few years ago, a client referred his colleague to me. He was about to become a father and wanted to start investing. We spoke in detail, and he was eager. But when I looked at his cash flow, I advised him to first reduce his expenses and work on increasing income.
Simple. Honest. Practical.
He disappeared.
A few years later, I casually asked my client about him. Here’s what I found out:
πΉ He enrolled in a course and pushed his colleagues to join—only to discover later he was getting a referral bonus π
πΉ Got into trading after watching a few YouTube gurus
πΉ Made some money initially (lucky, maybe), but then came the losses
πΉ Jumped into Futures & Options (F&O) to “recover” his losses
πΉ Ended up with bigger losses—Warren Buffett calls derivatives a “weapon of mass destruction” for a reason
πΉ Got an Income Tax notice—filed the wrong ITR form (ITR-1 instead of ITR-3, as F&O is business income)
πΉ I helped him fix it… every year. And every year, his losses grew.
He’d explain “advanced strategies” to me—technical analysis, complex indicators… yet nothing worked.
Eventually, he started advising others on F&O trading. Claimed to be an expert. Showed fake screenshots of profits. Even tried to get my client to invest with him—but thankfully, the client checked with me first.
Question for you:
Have you ever followed someone just because they sounded confident—even if it didn’t feel right?
π Story 2: The Smart Doctor Who Lost His Way
I had a friend—an MBBS doctor, super bright, BJ Medical College Pune alumnus. His wife was also a doctor and a scientist. Power couple, right?
But…
πΉ He started trading in stocks and F&O. Faced losses.
πΉ Tried MLM (Multi-Level Marketing). Got friends and relatives involved. Failed again.
πΉ Entered crypto trading. Brought in more people—because of referral bonuses.
πΉ The exchange vanished one day. So did their money.
He later declared: “I’ve mastered the stock market. I want to help people get rich.”
Started posting videos on social media, quit his job, and said—“My mission is financial freedom for everyone.”
After 5-6 months of buzz… silence.
I called. He had lost everything. Entirely dependent on his wife’s income.
Another question for you:
Have you seen someone fall for the illusion of fast success? Maybe even believed it for a while?
π Now, Meet the Silent Wealth Creator
One of my most inspiring client and a friend Premnath is an ITI graduate, working as a technician in an automobile company.
Not flashy. Not loud. No YouTube videos.
Just consistent investing, following a plan, sticking to his goals.
Today, his portfolio is worth more than ₹80 Lakhs.
He discusses Warren Buffett with me, talks long-term, and never rushes.
No drama. Just quiet, smart progress.
π‘ What’s the Difference?
➡️ The traders followed noise.
➡️ The ITI technician followed a plan.
I’ve had the privilege to work with hundreds of clients who’ve achieved financial freedom—not by chasing shortcuts but by:
✅ Setting life goals
✅ Planning systematically
✅ Staying disciplined
✅ Trusting the process
✅ Enjoying life without money stress!
Many of them are now living their dream lives:

π¨ Let’s Be Real
Do you want to get rich quick or get rich for sure?
Even SEBI says 95% of traders are in losses.
Even TRAI plays warning caller tunes now: “Don’t fall prey to investment tips or quick-money scams.”
Still tempted?
✅ Final Thought
Financial freedom is real. I’ve seen it happen again and again. But it takes time, patience, and a good guide.
So ask yourself:
π§ Are you reacting to news or WhatsApp forwards?
π± Do you follow advice just because it’s trending?
π° Are you looking for quick money or building wealth for your family?
If you’re ready to move from chaos to clarity, let’s talk.
Let’s build a plan that helps you live your dreams—without the drama.
